Service Light On After Changing Flame Trap---Help!!! 850

I just changed my flame trap and followed the direcitons on VolvoSpeed (Great Site I must say) but now my Check Engine light is on. I made sure that all the wires and everything is connected tight and correctly. Anyone know what could cause the light to come on...flash for about 2 minutes and then glow steady? Any help would be great.

Thanks,
John

if there is a code, it is most likely a vacum leak..maybe 2-1-3 or 1-2-3. If you removed the connecting tube from the air filter housing/air meter to the throttle body and flame trap hounsing make sure the connections are tight and that no crack opened up in the connector tube..the old ones can crack if twisted hard.

Try resetting the codes, by dissconnecting the battery for about ten minutes.

Re-setting codes is not done by disconnecting the battery! To erase codes, they have to be read at least twice, then the button is pressed and held for seven seconds or more. Codes are now erased.

Service Light On After Changing Flame Trap---Help!!! 850

Wait a minute. You said "SERVICE LIGHT" not "CHECK ENGINE"light. The service light means you have covered a certain number of miles since your last inspection, and it only means it is time for a inspection at the dealer. On my 1994 850NA, the service light comes on every 5000 miles. Please take a look at your instrument panel. See if there is a little round black rubber about a third of an inch in diameter on the "glass". If you find it take it out. You willsee a black plastic stick behind it, protruding from the instrumant panel.
Press it down carefully using a small screw driver or a toothpick. No need to apply much force. Do it with ignition switch on. The service light will go out, and will come on again at the factory scheduled milleage. These instructions are ggod for one of the two different makes of the instrument panel. Yazaki I believe. The other, VDO is not so easy.
Apparently it was just a coincidence that it came on after you cleaned the flame trap, as a certain milleage was reached. Let us know if that solves you problem.
