Rain Sensing Wipers

My V70 has rain sensing wipers and I'm not impressed. Anyone else have an opinion?

    What a waste of money...

Are we all so dumb we don't know how to turn the wipers on? Or when to turn them off? Us guys in the midwest sometimes like to see the windshield get good an wet before the wipers encounter half dried bug guts/oil.
I put Rain-X on my wind shield and when it is just misting, I dont want the wipers going, the drops just blow off. Besides, is the system smart enough to differentiate between rain/snow/sleet?
I know how to turn the wipers on/off, I just wish my 850 had multiple levels of intermittant wiping, instead of the every 7 second interval.

You can purchase an intermittant relay, giving your 850 variable speeds. I purchased mine from IPD years ago. They don't sell it anymore because I think word got out that you could purchase the relay much cheaper elsewhere. I think the relay is used by Volkswagon.

    Rain Sensing Wipers 850 1996

My s60 has them too. I don't get enough rain here in So. Cal for it to really matter much. But them seem cool when they are on. On the other hand its just one more thing that might break down the road...

    Why not?

I don't own a car with that feature but I wish that it was a possible add-on feature for older cars as I like the idea.
