CV joint noise. I only hear it when decelerating. 850

When I am accelerating I do not hear the click-click, actually louder. My boot is torn and it started when I drove through some mud this weekend. Is FCP the best deal on new axles? Anyone try Pep or AutoZOne to save shipping? I cant wait to get rid of all these noises.

Thanks.

Autozone sells shafts for 99.99 with lifetime replacement coverage. I installed 2 in my 93 a few weeks ago. They had to reorder them twice due to damaged pulse rings for ABS, but stil the same cost to me.

I thought through it well. Needed a torque wrench and angle torque gauge to tighten nut. Removing old nut will require large breaker bar. Have a helper put the brakes on while trying to loosen nut. Turn nut a few turns off then gently tap the axle shaft back to free up the splines. Remove ball joint and tie rod end to free up strut and wheel assembly. When removing passenger side take care to prevent the axle from damaging the tranny seal when you pull it out. Gravity wants to let the shaft drop on the seal, support it well when removing. Drivers side needs to have the circle clip compressed to remove. I carefully drove a screw driver between the transmission case and the axle shaft to remove the shaft. You need to be sure to avoid the seal when doing this. There is a small lip where the seal is pressed in, this is where i rested the screwdriver.
Hope this is of some use to you.
