Reattaching the black strip across the top of the windshield 850 1995

Was driving from Houston to New Orleans this last Friday night, wasn't even going that fast ( think about 75 or so) the Black rubber strip that is across the top of the windshield came peeling off, scared the crap out of me as it fluttering in the wind and banging the top of the roof.

Does it require some sort of adhesive. Look like it was just snapped in there. Do need a new one or can I use the old one with glue

any help will be appreciated

thanks

When new mine came off at over 120 mph down the turnpike I went back to the dealer and complained :)) . They called a local auto-glass repair shop and had them do the re-install of a new piece (warranteed...). The dealer didn't trust any of his apes banging near the windshield so they got the glass shop to do it. They used some clear adhesive and a rubber mallet to smack it back in place and it hasn't come off again in 8 years. I think Volvo just stuck it in place with no adhesive from the factory. It's pretty common to lose one until it's replaced with some adhesive.

Thanks a bunch, I'll swing by a glass shop and see what they can do
