Upper Motor Mount - Urethane vs Volvo Rubber??

I've been having a knocking sound when doing highway speeds and turning to the right. Went over everything. Think I've finally found the culprit - upper motor mount it busted. This is on a '97 854 GLT with 74K.

I've searched and read all the related threads. The urethane seems to be the easiest to replace (remove old, bolt in new). But, some complain of new engine vibration felt in the interior. Is it bad/noticable?? Something that you get used to?? Any input would be helpful.

The original volvo rubber bushing seem to be a bit more painful to put in - but no vibration.

So what is the overall consensus. Any/all opinions are greatly appreciated.

Andrew

Upper Motor Mount - Urethane vs Volvo Rubber?? V70-XC70 1998

Good Evening Andrew.....I replaced the mount on my 98 V70 with an IPD urethane mount (25 bucks), it was a breeze to install. The old one will pop out with a screwdriver and hammer, it's rubber and plastic so let it rip! I stuck my screwdriver between the plastic rubber mount housing and the steel housing bracket and it broke the old rubber housing making it easy to push out. The new urethane doesn't have a vibration issue and it'll outlast the rubber. I recommend the urethane hands down. I had to use a pry bar on the engine to thread the bolt...it wasn't a he-man issue. Follow the installation instructions and you'll have it in in less than 30 minutes tops.

Upper Motor Mount - Urethane vs Volvo Rubber??

If I have to do it again, I will try the urethane two piece unit, but hopefully by the next time there will be a two piece that reacts and flexes like the original design.

Upper Motor Mount - Urethane vs Volvo Rubber??

I have the urathane and I did notice some incrased vibration after the urethane was installed (very minor, and I don't notice it anymore), but I don't know if it is because of the difference in material or because I replaced a broken mount (ie no connection to the car) with a new mount.
One thing to consider is future maintenance. I don't like doing a job more then once. My urethane mount has lasted 4 years and still works, the rubber one lasted 2 years.

I replaced this bushing with the urethane one on my '95 850 over a year ago and have had no vibration problems. I also bought the urethane bushing because it seemed to be easier to install.
