XC90 front wheel drive - 2.5T - how do you like it XC90

I am interested in the FWD XC90 and wondered who out there has this model and how they like it. AWD is not necessary for my uses, and I like to keep things as simple as possible - less to break.

How do you like it - driveability, mileage, etc?

Thanks

Yes, you can get a front wheel drive XC90.

If you go to the volvo site and build one, it is possible.

Most people want the AWD so dealers stock what is selling.

I'd like to cheat a bit and get basically a wagon drivetrain with a SUV body.

Plus, its cheaper to maintain - no transfer cases, only 2 half shafts, etc.

I have seen a couple at Michigan dealers, so I wanted to see if anyone out there had bought one.

I think a set of snow tires with FWD should be about the same as my 850 FWD with snows, but the XC90 weights more, so the distribution may not be the same.

Plus the engine compartment is tight with I-5, let alone the V6, which didn't allow a 5-speed transmission, only a 4 speed.

I want to avoid the AWD headaches of tire replacement and wear and tear. I know people with Subarus with 150-200,000 miles and AWD with no problems, but volvo doesn't have that history yet.

I'd like to see a test with XC90s - FWD and 4 snow tires vs AWD and all season tires. The results might be surprising.

XC90...................... front wheel drive - ???????????? XC90

Does that exist? Every XC90 I've seen is AWD and I work at a Volvo dealer.

I've seen several in FL where AWD isn't really necessary, I guess.
