CD Chager broken?

I have a 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo, OEM stereo and a volvo brand cd changer. A few months back the inline fuse holder broke, so I taped it up. I bought another one but I have not installed it yet, however the fuse is still intact, it just looks bad. So with the CD changer I am not sure if there is a power interuption somewhere but when I drive sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. In the morning when I get into the car it works fine but even then on the way to school it shows "EEEE" on it. Then I switch to radio and try to press the CD button but it doesnt work. As far as I can tell there is no power fallout from the CD changer to the inline fuse. Is there another place where I should check? Also I took the CD changer apart a few times and hit it a few times becuause it would not work... Could that be it too? Thanks
Chris

The fuse holder is broken, so replace it first before trying to diagnose the problem further. Any bump in the road could make the fuse inop.
Banging on the CD player is not recomended, especially when it is in play mode. It is fragile and cannot be fixed with a hammer or fist.
For about $220 you can go to your dealer and exchange your radio for an SC816 with a black face and have a single in-dash CD player, and still hook it up to your probably broken changer.
