850 Tranny Codes and Idiot Lights!!! 850

The tranny light come on flashing at me today. The codes I pulled are:

1)3-2-2 Incorrect Gear Ratio
2)1-1-4 Program Selector Open Circuit or Short Circuit to Supply

Can anyone help decifer these?? The was tooling along just fine and all of the sudden the light came on and it seems like the shift points have changed slighty. The SPORT/ECON/WINTER mode button has no impact on the problem. Thanks for you help!!

Brett

The program selector is the little button next to the gear shift where you change the car from sport to winter to economy, etc. Yes, if the car doesn't know if you are in sport or economy or winter, the computer will be unable to set the gear ratio to match any of the above. Did someone spill something in the switch? Did someone set something down on the switch? Clean the switch, reset the codes, see if they come back. If they do, replace the switch. It's a relatively cheap part, and is relatively easy to replace.

Hope this helps,

Chris

If it isn't the PNP switch ,the volvo dealer told me these tranny's have 3 solenoids ,2 of mine are acting up and the 3rd one is the cheaper one .
$915 to replace all three .
says this is a common problem in the 850's.
same problems as yours.

Dont worry about 114 its a "ghost code" that is in every 850 I have ever ran a code check on. As to the other one its a "slip code" and the first thing I would check is the fluid condition and level.
