Trans Service And ABS Controller S80

Question, Has anyone with a s80 T6 had their Trans fluid and Filter changed?
When I had mine done, I was quoted $172.oo Ballpark and charged $482.00. They said I was quoted wrong because I had a Turbo. When I went to another dealer for a trouble light, they said it would be $172.00 even with a turbo. Just curious if anyone has had this service done and what they were charged.

This is a FYI
ABS controller, Got a service trans light and took it to a dealer to turnoff the light. They said I needed a speed sensor and it is located in the ABS controller, the new price is $915.00 installed. Please if you need one, go to vicrocha@earthlink.net, he's under $200.00 and its easy to replace your self.

Thanks for your time.
Craig

Trans Service and GAS MILEAGE REPORT

I'm sorry to say my friend, you got screwed! I hate when dealers do this stuff! I would have gotten the GM involved and ripped them a new one.

The way the guys said to do it yourself is correct, and always flush the lines or the jobs not complete. I use Amsoil in everything and it's good for 2 to (I've gotten as high as) 6 additional MPG which will pay for itself quick at these gas prices. A Volvo like mine will use 4347 gallons of gas to go 100,000 miles if you save 3 MPG that equals 500 gallons less gas @ $2+ a gallon is over $1,000. Now that buys a lot of good oil and the mods you might want to do to the car to get more mileage...

My dealer charges $125.00 for a B&G Tranny Flush for any Volvo. It does not include a filter change. NAPA sells a tranny service kit for your S80-T6. It is a GM tranny and you get a filter and gasket for under $15.00.

I flushed my tranny myself. it is a little messy when you drop the pan but not really hard. I used 15 quarts to be sure I got all of the old fluid out. Fluid is cheap, tranny is not.

Do it every 2 years or 24,000 miles. This is the GM schedule.

At least you will know better next time...

You can also more thoroughly flush the torque converter, by disconnecting the line to the radiator, but at the transmission. Connect a slightly larger hose over that line to direct the fluid into your collection pan. Run the engine for roughly 15 seconds then off. Add new fluid close to the amount drained. Repeat this through about 12 quarts. You'll see the fluid color change to indicate the old fluid is out. Also, drop the pan every other fluid change to replace the filter. You may want to repeat the method above again to replace the fluid the torque converter holds. Case of ATF at Sam's Club...$20.00 or less.

There is another service that repairs the ABS module listed on ebay for slightly less, I think they are in Florida and do other electronics modules.
