Turbo Problem S70

leaking oil from my turbo (not return line, I replaced gasket already) also from the intercooler. My mechanic thinks the turbo is bad-without looking at it-and wants 1500 to replace with rebuilt. 1998 S-70 with 153,000miles. Well maintained. Looking for other option-fix. Comman problem? Thank you.

Holy crap! $1500? you can find slightly used turbos on volvospeed.com, swedespeed.com, vptuning.com, for a fraction of the price. If you are at ALL mechanically inclined, do it yourself. It can be done in an afternoon. It's a very simple procedure.

Does the IM say the same thing after he has looked at it? Seems early for the turbo to die, but this would be a function of maintenance history and driving habits.
