2001 V70, T5 Gas Door.
Folks, My gas door fell off in my hand yesterday at the gas station and a little plastic part fell to the ground. I think the black plastic mounting assembly attached to the car has broken off some "tabs" or other parts. Is there an online source for a new mounting piece? If so, how do you go about getting the old one off? I took apart the side panel and there is no access from the interior. Looking under the car and up into the side panel I can see no attachment location. Is it a press fit? There are some numbers molded into the piece itself, 9483545 and a 18914. Is the 9483545 the part no.? Thanks!

Problem solved, dropped by the Volvo dealer and picked up the part for $13. I bought two of them so next time it happens I'll have a spare. The parts guy at Volvo even went out to my car and put it on for me! The trick is to put the gas door on the hinge first and then put the whole assembly on using a small rubber hammer to push the pins into the body. They even gave me a set of nice dealer license plate frames for free! Good people, Turner Volvo in Sacramento CA. Regards, Chris

Same thing happened to me a while back. If I remember right you need to push the mounting pins through on the piece that is still attached to the body of the car, letting them fall into the body panel.. Once you see the new piece you'll see how easy it is to install.

Its a real cheap dealer item and I'm sure they'll have them in stock.

I just did this, and noticed my neighbor's gas lid had fallen off, too. His car is a 740 and the hinge design looks exactly the same.

Some things never change. I think the hinge is about $15.
