Heater hoses 850

Hello all,
How in the heck do you get the heater hoses removed from the firewall side? i have tried squeezing the yellow connector/ring around the aluminum fitting and tried to wiggle it out to no avail. am i missing something? is it hooked somehow on the inside of the car? doesn't make sense, but, is it? i am trying to replace them as the top one blew out. Thanks in advance.

I purchased replacement hoses and a retainer kit from Europartsdirect for this job. I didn't put them in yet but have them as a spare in the car for long trips. The retainer kit has an assembly sketch in it. According to the sketch, each hose gets 3 rings on it and then the last item is the yellow retainer (4 items per hose in all). The retainer has barbs on it which should snap in to hold the whole assembly in place. You would push it all in to install, and squeeze the retainer to release. In the lower hose is one additional washer that you remove once the hose is out and then reuse with the new hose. From the look of it I would think the yellow retainers hold very tight and would have to be squeezed with some force to free them. Based on my experience with cooling system hoses in other cars the various rings might not survive removal so you would probably need the kit if you didn't already get it with the hose(s).

We were going to do that, but my friend said not to worry with as new and few miles as the cars have. Apparently you have to attack it from inside the car to release the hose. Sounds like fun?? Hopefully a tech will answer your questions.
