On the threshold of getting an S60 or a S70, S90, or 940 S60

We have some of the older Volvos (B230F era). Mom is tired of something always needing repair and wants a newer car, or at least something with lower miles and better condition. I tried getting her to look at the competition (Camry, Accord, Lexus, BMW) but she is fixated on Volvo. She will most likely buy another Volvo. How new or what model I cant say - need help.

I have these questions and thoughts:

Is the S60 power train reliable? ... the electronics? ... the body built well to withstand corrosion?

Any years better than others?

The S80 is a great looking car but they are not available without turbos. Dislike turbos in any vehicle.

Features recommended?

Are Service Manuals or CD's available?

RB

Your Mom has good tastes. The S60 is reliable. Avoid the earliest S80. There is nothing wrong with Volvo turbos; as a matter of fact, they rock. Re Volvo vs the competition, you should drive what you like. Good luck.

      "The S60 is reliable." Riverside70

Ok, the powertrain is reliable, now what about the electronics, is that still the achilles heel of the European Electronics vs. Japanese reliability???

What about body integrity and corrosion?

Any other weak areas? Any strong areas other than the usual Volvo claims of making safe cars? (Volvo still have the engine drop down crash feature?)

Are Service Manuals or CD's available?"

      Thanks,
      RB

Turbos are great for power "if" you need it. I dislike them because they make working on your own car so much more difficult.
