New shift lever 850 1994

I have been trying to find an online supplier that carries a new shift lever for my 850, but can not seem to locate one. Does anyone know who carries them?

Thanks

I had a '95 that was picked at by the previous owner and started coming apart at the top. I went to the junk yard and got an excellent one for $5 bucks. To remove it, twist the top of the leather boot just under the handle and slide it down. Then with both hands, pull straight up at the same time wiggling it slightly back and forth, and pull some more. Balance yourself, because when it releases, you'll go flying.....and be entertainment for others around you watching...

    Good luck.

I was just curious, I had read on this site once the old shift lever is pulled off, it cannot be used again. Did the one from the junk yard go on ok?

      Thanks,

I can't recall ever seeing one in my online travels, which does not surprise me. This is not considered a normal consumable item, or even a long term wear and tear item. In my mind there are two choices, order it from the dealership, and be prepared to pay through the nose for it, or start calling salvage yards.

I'm just curious, how did the present one break? Seems like a pretty unusual thing to have fail, unless is was damaged in some way, like someone fell on it and it broke, that kind of thing.

It is not "broke" as much as deteriating. The rubber is just in bad shape from its 10 year old lifespan. It is more of a cosmetic item. I called a local dealer here in Houston and they want 62.00. Doesn't sound too bad.

      Thanks,
      Tracy
