Hi to all: You were all so helpful back in Feb and March when I was trying to decide what to do after I dumped by 1998 V70 AWD. I finally decided on the C class Mercedes wagon- one reason was the astonishing price and the other was the inclusion of a 2 year maintenance warranty. After my experience with the V70- 6 years of constant and never-ending repairs- it was a relief to know that, other than oil changes, the car will cost $0. So, time will tell whether this was the right decision.

But the service continued to be so bad that the day before the trade, something broke- again- they screwed up and ordered the wrong part, and then I had to hustle over to another dealer and spend an entire afternoon getting this thing fixed. Needless to say, I was relieved to get out of that car, away from Volvo who's service levels have fallen to atrocious levels, and into something that will be trouble-free- I hope. Has anyone else noticed a signficant change in service levels and attitudes in the last 5 years?

Now that I've done this, I have some accessories I need to sell. I have 2 dog guards, a set of floor mats, the plastic floor tray, some 'still in the package' sparkplugs and other never used incidentals, and a brand new Volvo car cover for a collector Volvo which I didn't keep long enough to store. If anyone is interested, let me know. I'd love to unload them.

what type of "dog gaurds" are they? Are they the nets that come up from behind the seat or are the the metal type? I may be interested in both of them if you still have them.

This whirring sounds like your AC compressor cycling off and on. Possibly low on freon. Pop the hood with the engine running, A/C on and see if the A/C compressor is cycling on and off.

On the overdrive problem about 99% of the time it is the overdrive relay that is bad. Read the FAQ's for info on resoldering the relay, buy a new one or get one from a bone yard. You call also install a jumper wire in the relay socket and bypass/eliminate the relay. Good luck.

What type are the spark plugs? What are the other incidentals?

Good luck with the C class wagon, I heard that Benz has trouble with the reliability issue. I hope that you won't have that with your new car.

Regarding to your car cover, is that a cover for wagon or sedan ? If it is for wagon, how much will it be ??

Sorry to be so late in replying- usually the site lets me know there aare replies so I didn't log in. The cover was for a sedan but it also doesn't specify on the box. It was never used or unfolded so don't know how it fits- to be honest. I'd have to check iwth Volvo what the price is. I'm unloading my stuff at half retail. where are you located since I'd have to check the shipping costs.

I checked the Volvo Accessories web page, the sedan cover doesn't fit my 95 wagon due to the shape of the trunk.

I am looking for rear mudguards and the roof rails that attach to the holes inside the door frames, for my '98 V70.

What color and how many pieces in the floor tray set and how much? The spark plugs are they volvo brand and for a turbo and how much?

My friend's "free maintenance" Mercedes has spent more time in the shop than any car I have ever seen. I guess since they are in there so often, it's no trouble to change the oil once in a while. Good luck to you, I think you had a lemon Volvo, but dont assume the Mercedes will be any different. Just as many (if not more) electronics and sensors to go bad.
