S70 Gear Shiftin S70 2000

I recently purchased my first Volvo, a 2000 S70 GLT. When I accelerate fast it seems to shift hard (or at least harder than I am used to in other vehicles). On the highway when downshifting it is noticeable and when accelerating quickly it feels like the transisiton is not as smooth as it feels at other times. I had the mechanic at the dealership test drive it with me and he said it was Ok but I am still skeptical. He said it was normal. It just seems to have a hard transition and it seems to center around 3rd gear. Am I a little to sensitive or could I be on the verge of a problem? Anyone else have a similar experience?
Thanks,
CB

Has anyone tried having their TCM software upgraded? I spoke with my local Volvo Dealer and they informed me that there is a upgrade for the TCM which "supposedly" addresses the rough shift points. I plan on having it done during my next service stop. The cost is $120.00 for the upgrade so I thought I'd check here first to see if anyone has tried that yet?

I too have the same shifting symptoms on my 00 s70...

yea i feel that to when you give it more gas then usualit does pull tug right after it changes, I thought it was play in the transmision but its not, i think it could be the torque at low rpm. One thing i dont like is that there is to much shifting, I have a 1999 S70 non turbo automatic, and it shifts a lot it doest give some gears a chance to run. ive driven other non turbos and its the same.

Hey there, I have a '99 S70 Automatic as well (non turbo), and I notice that if I'm really pushing it or even just driving it a little more aggressive than usual, the shifts between 1-2 and 3-4th are felt. The only up/down shifts that I don't feel are between 2-3rd. I too thought there was something wrong, but my Volvo Mechanic said that it's normal for these transmissions and my concern wasn't the first he's heard, though he did assure me that there isn't a problem. After driving a rental Taurus for a day, going back to my S70 did seem a little "harsh." - Not to worry, just think the shifts are "crisp." At least, that's what I keep telling myself.

Thanks for the response. I wanted to believe the mechaninc but it just seemed so odd. We just got back from a two day trip and it handled great. First time with it on the open roads for an extended time so I am sure that all is well with it. Waiting on our XC90. I am hoping that Volvo is good to us.

      Thanks

I guess this is normal for Volvo transmissions.... My 98 S70 126K miles does the same thing.

I have had the trans fluid flushes many times but the "jerk" never goes away. Sometimes it is smooth othertimes it is noticeable during hard and regular acceleration shifts.......
