rear shocs 850

In replacing the rear shocks on my 97 850 wagon, I discovered a cracked upper shock mount with no washers on either side of the mount (where the shock shaft goes through) Should there be any washers? If so, what side would they be on? Thanks in advance.

I am told that the upper mounts fail quite regularly on these, and some people automatically replace the mounts when replacing shocks, so no surprise that yours is cracked. I don't have washers on either top or bottom of mine, but I have Nivomat shocks, so it might be different.
