Front wheels SHUDDER in reverse slow speed 850 1994

Greetings,
94 850 turbo w. automatic, recently developed new problem. Car shudders or pulses or locks wheels, frnt wheels when back out of garage. this seems to have started after either I repaired a rear brake squeal by removing ,cleaning and reinstalling the rear shims full and half shim on each wheel w. disc brake backing glue etc.
I also had new tires installed factory size, and prior to that a wheel alignment in which the indy shop couldnt bring into align so widened the screw hole on the strut to bring into adjustment. did i screw up brakes causing abs to pulse frnt wheels, or do i have a warped rotor , caliper seizing?
Anyone have this happen before??
any help appreciated,
thanks much

If you only get this problem when you reverse and not when driving normally then i would concentrate on the transmission rather than the wheels and brakes as wheels and brakes are designed to work the same going backwards as going forwards. Cant be the handbrake as these are on the rear wheels and its your fronts locking up, it is front wheel drive which is why i would look to the transmission.

I dont like the thing that the shop couldnt align your wheels properly so they widened the screw hole on the strut!!! that doesnt seem right to me. ive never even heard of that on any car ive owned nor any that anyone else has owned. It comes out of the factory aligned as standard, why does it need modifying from standard to carry out a simple wheel alignment????

I would advise that you get it into a specialist for an inspection asap as it may result in a problem that gets worse......

Post a reply when its done to educate us all....good luck.

I would also be very concerned that they couldn't do the alignment properly....has there been any heavy kerbing at the front or accident damage?
