What do the coil-pack wires connect to? S70 1999

First thanks for your help Chris.

Background:
My check engine light came on yesterday. Stopped by AutoZone to use their free OBDII reader service. Where can I get some info on the codes that were logged? I did not actually see the code reader, but here's what they told me: Code 350,353,354,355 Ignition primary, Ignition secondary.

I replaced the plugs and the Check Engine light reset to off the next day.
It's back on again. I'm going to work my way to the problem (plugs, then wires/distributor, then coil packs). Where do the wires from the coil packs go (is the distributor tucked under the engine?)?

    you don't have wires S70 1999

'99 and newer volvos have on the fly(wireless) electronic throttle and ignition. Thus, there are no plug wires, coil or distributor cap, etc.

The individual coil packs are the electronic ignition. One of the coil packs could be defective, thus swapping them around can tell you wich one is the bad one.

      life of a coil pack? S70 1999

      Thanks, John.

I've got about 72k miles on the car. The OBDII reader says cyl 3, 4 and 5 are misfiring. What is the life expextancy of a coil pack?

Your last name isn't Hrabe is it? I used to work with a John Hrabe at Tampa Electric Company back in the early '90s.

        about 75K S70 1999

From what I've read, life expectancy is about 8 years or 100K miles, but that's in the ideal world, so probably around 70-75K.

I would swap 1 and 3 coil pack, reset the codes and read them again. If misfiring is 1,4,5, then you know that coil pack 3 which is now in 1 is bad, and continue that way. I doubt very much that 3 packs are bad, I assume one of them is the culprit and probably the first one read.

No I am not the John you met in Tampa Electric.

        Cheers
