Hi all,
My wife somehow smashed the right front sidemarker. The dealer wanted (take a deep breath) about $200 to replace the tiny little plastic part. In addition, I noticed that the bulb blew out in the left rear sidemarker. So now I have only two functional ones.
Dows anyone know:
1. How do I pull those things apart? How to change a light bulb, and how to remove the broken one completely?
2. Where could I get a replacement lamp for a resonable price?

The rear side marker on my V40,00 must be replaced, it is a sealed unit, no way to get to bulb. I think they cost about $30. They are tricky to get out. The dealer uses a plastic pic like tool. Try from the back, you will release the unit and pull out.

So if I understood you correctly, you just pop out the unit, by prying it from the outside? This sounds like a pretty easy process (if you have the right tool), I wonder why they wanted $200 for it. did you actually see them pop it out?


Just to clarify: When you say "try from the back", do you mean prying from the rear of the car, or do you mean that I need to remove the bumper and pry from the inside?

The prying out was tricky, their was a release tab on the back side. I might be easier to remove the wheel well cover and release from the back.

I have the same f***ing problem...only here in Finland
dealer charge 55 bucks to change the burned bulb!!
And i think that´s whack, no way i don´t pay 55 bucks for a f***ing bulb.

I dunno how to change it my self,
i´ve heard that it can be changed only from back side,
so it means i have to take off my bumber?

Well, no thanx...if it´s so hard to change them...
i want to unplug those bulbs that are still workin`!
