My S80 Unlocks Itself.... S80 1999

Hello All,

I'm having a problem with my S80. Sometimes when I lock the car (with the fob) it will unlock itself (drivers door only). I've stood beside the car for up to 15 tries until if finally locked for good. I've even walked away from it and then when I'm just out of audible range I hear "click" then I walk back to find the door unlocked.

Is anyone experiencing this? It's not a comfortable feeling to have - that the car might unlock itself when I'm not around.

I'm getting an Alarm Service message too.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

My 2000 S80 did this and it was the power lock actuator that needed replacement. It is a complete unit in the door.

there also was a campaign to replace the key fob(s)....a problem with button(s) sticking.

the key fob problem would cause all the locks to malfunction ,not just the drivers.

hello,
i think i know exactly what is wrong with your car, this is very common on later model volvos and was a problem with the door locks due to an inferior microswitch inside the locks themselves. to repair the problem the lock needs to be replaced, this is a current volvo service campaign and if your vehicle is still under warrenty your dealer will replace this lock for free.if it is under warrenty my advice would be to say that you have had problems with ALL the locks on various times and then they will replace them all.otherwise each lock usually fails in turn one after the other until all four end up being replaced.if no warrenty then you just have to bear the price and have it done.
hope this helps.

steve.
