On some recent posts info was give by how to get ABS modules repaired. The info list was at Victor's ABS Web page (http://home.earthlink.net/~vicrocha/)
Click on the ABS / TRACS Link. The symptoms listed are exactly what I am experiencing with my 98 S70 - intermittant ABS/ TRACS lights, that now - after months, stay on most of the time.
Questions: Does anyone know if the ABS module is simply erroring, or it is a fact that ABS does not work whenever the light is on. I am not trying to push the envelope when safety is concerned - just wondering. Also is it a different module if you have TRACS than if you don't? Same repair cost?
Addtnl Question: After inquiring with Volvo - as to why would I want to pay 500 bucks for another factory part when they seem to fail (I already have a factory Volvo part and look what happened). The answer was that a new Volvo part has been improved (due to all the problems) and that their warranty is 12 months. I am not arguing that a 6 months more warranty is worth the 350-400 more dollars than what Victor's repaired item cost.
The biggest question of all - WHY HASN'T VOLVO RECALLED THIS PART? Not sure if it is true, but a mechanic told me that almost all 850s and 70s end up with a failing ABS module - just a matter of time.
Thanks, Tom
