1996 850 T5 Saloon Front Fog Installation 850

Hi

I need some guidance with regards to the wiring when installing OE front fogs onto my 1996 UK spec 850 T5.
I have fitted the fogs into their brackets and found the pre installed harness with plugs fixed up under the front bumper, which are now plugged in.

I also have bought the "yellow back" dash switch from volvo and fitted this into the dash at the side of the headlamp switch where i found a yellow connector. I take it this is the correct position as they are both yellow.

The fogs do not work yet and i am sure i may need a further piece to link up the lamps

As Volvo themselves did not know anything about the loom or where it started or finshed or how to install the fogs !!!! perhaps someone could help me out.

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

Good Luck.

I hope that my results are not typical, but here is what I have found. I have a 1996 850 GLT with the pre wired fog light connections. I too bought the lights, and switch. Installed both and no fog lights. After many hours of frustration, the car went to the dealer. Four hours later (and $300) no lights. Dealer did said that they had to put the correct relay in, but that the original wiring must have a flaw somewhere as they could not get the lights to can on. Said for $500 they could pull out the dash and have a better look. A few weeks later, I took the car to an automotive electrical shop that kept the car two days ($95) and again NO lights. Their conclusion was that the pre wired system was not complete. I finally went to the dealer and bought an accessory harness to bypass the original under dash circuit and installed that. NO LIGHTS. I am not able to get the second power source to the relay. I refuse to cut the factory harness, so in frustration I have given up. The fog lights look great but DO NOT WORK......

If you manage to get yours on, please email me and let me know how you did it. I have well over $500 and no less than fifty hours invested in the fog lights on this car and would love to see them come on.

Dont worry i'll crack it.... it may be the case that i ditch the volvo loom and get a fresh wiring job done using the original switch, that should be easy for an auto electrician and alot cheaper than looking for a fault in the existing loom.

I reckon ill have them on within 2 weeks. If so ill let you know, prices and all. Dont lose heart, man made the machine, man can fix it :)

Anyone else shed some light on it?
