EGR System Fault Code 850

I have a 1995 850 turbo wagon with 113K. I’m getting a fault code of 2-4-1, EGR system, flow malfunction. I’ve tried to clear it several times, but the code returned immediately. Does the EGR need to be replaced, or is this something that I can clean out.

If I have the option of replacing or cleaning, what is the recommendation? How tough of a job is this? Any idea what a new EGR valve costs?

Thanks in advance!

RT

EGR System Fault Code 850

The 241 code is usually caused by a clogged up EGR, not the EGR valve, but the hole that dumps the gas from the exhaust into the intake manifold.

the above link breaks down how to clean the hole out that gets clogged up.
