P0410 error code S70 1998

Good Morning All,

I am registering a P0410 code on my scanner,( Secondary Air Injection Fault).
I pulled the hose from the air pump to the air filter compartment and I can
hear the pump startup, not much air flow, but a Volvo tech said I should barely
feel much of anything coming from that pump. Any ideas on the next part that maybe
causing this error code?, SAS etc..should I check whats going on from the discharge hose?

Thanks

If the pump is indeed running and there is airflow then the problem is probably in the SAS valve. If it is detected that the valve cannot close you will get the MIL light.
I have been round and round with the p0410 code. Only my pump was full of water and wouldn't run. I replaced the pump with something different and everything has been good. I did get the p0410 code a couple weeks ago and sprayed a bunch of wd40 in the sas valve and haven't had the problem since. I suspect that I may need to replace the valve in the future.

Anyway, my point is to try spraying something into the sas valve and reseting the light and see what happens.
Good Luck
Doug

Doug,

where to in the SAS valve do you spray WD40, engine on or off?

Thanks

I am only guessing but I would try to clean the throttle body assembly and poor a bottle of BG-44K in the fuel tank and see if the problem goes away.
