ABS pump argghhhh 850

Well I did a break job around 3 weeks ago, pads all around, front rotors...almost $500....about 2 weeks later the "brake" warning light came on. Pulled over, noticed that the fluid was low, put in a bottle and the light went out, keep going...

A week later light's back on, take it to the shop, takes several days but concludes that the ABS pump is shot and leaking fluid...$1500 for a new one, $675 for a junkyard special....+ labor to put that f-ing thing in.....

This car is getting ready to push me over the edge, evertime I do something nice it rewards me with another thing breaking....new tires and battery the brakes go, tune up and the engine fan went, arghhh.

Anyone else have this, when is enough, enough....What do you think this darn car with fixed ABS is worth anyway? 126,000 miles, 1995, leather, alloys....I'm all out of patience....

Adam

I feel your pain. My '95 850, 136,000 has the same problem. I have gotten about the same quotes as you to fix the problems. Not worth fixing in my opinion. I'm not leaking as fast as you.

Non-turbo sedan? $2990 as a trade-in in my zip code. 850

Of course, the tires and brakes and tune-up are just routing maintenance and you'll have to do that on a Honda Accord or BMW, too.

I just dropped $1200 on my TB, TB tensioner and idler and bought 4 new tires and wouldn't consider it anything but routine.

If it's a Turbo it's worth about $4k, if it's not a Turbo it's worth about $2500. There's not much market for a high mileage front wheel drive Volvo, there's just too many repairs needed. I think the old rear wheel drive Volvos have a higher resale now than the 850/C70 cars. It's certainly not going to improve with Ford taking 'em over either.
