storing the brick - tips? 850 1996

I need to store my 96 855 for about six weeks. It won't be started or driven in that time. Is there anything I ought to be sure to do? Leave it with a full tank of gas? Leave the tires at a certain psi? Anything else? Thanks.

Dan--disconnect the battery, whether it's weak or new. The security system and the radio (though off) will drain it. Leastways, it did on my 97 850 wagon with a brand new Volvo battery in it. I shipped mine from the States to Norway, and when it arrived in its cargo container the battery was dead dead dead. I also had it go dead twice in a friend's garage during a six month storage prior to shipping. Where or however you store it, make sure it's in a position where you can get at the engine if you have to. I had a hellava job getting to the front of the car in the shipping container because of the narrowness of the container. I should have backed it in. Something to remember. Dick

I agree with Klaus, six weeks is just a vacation for some folks. Park it and forget about it. If on the other hand you have a weak battery, then hook-up a smart charger to keep it from totally discharging.

Might pump the tires up to about 50psi so they don't flat-spot.

Also, might put a wad of steel wool in the exhaust pipe and a box of moth balls inside and maybe in the air intakes to discourage critters from nesting in there. (You do NOT want a family of dead, chopped up mice inside of your HVAC system, believe me!) Just remember to take the stuff out before you restart the car! (Disconnect the battery and tape a note to the battery, too!)

Six weeks is NOT considered "storage". Fill'er up and park it. If the battery is getting old, disconnect it and remember your radio code. You might want to wax or cover it to keep the NY dust off.
When you get back, check the tire pressure, and drive it.
