Loose Window S70

I have a 98 S70 and my power window is making a strange noise (mechanical scratching sound) like it is off its track or something going up and down. It also shakes when it is all of the way down and I hit a bump or something. Any ideas, fixes, common experiences? Thanks.

You more than likely have a broken window guide channel. Take the door panel off and have a look see in there, you will probably find that is the case.

Thanks, if this is the case, is it a difficult and/or expensive fix, one that I could handle, or one better left for a mechanic.

Thanks again.

It is not too bad as far as the expense goes. Doing it on the other hand can be a little challenging if you have no experience pulling door panels. Getting the bugger out of the door itself is a bit of a puzzle but nothing real bad. Take a look through Bay 13 and see if there is anything in there on pulling your 850/S70 style door panel. Once you have it out of the way most of the work is done.
