I recently replaced a high/low headlamp bulb with an aftermarket bulb. I noticed that light didn't look right after that. Checked the bulb, it is not seating properly, allowing it to move within the reflector. Is it possible that it is the aftermarket bulb, it is the right bulb number, but maybe the bulb housing is slightly smaller? I secured it with the spring, but that doesn't even fit very tight now. Has anybody had this same problem?

The aftermarket bulb had the correct number for the car and the spring is in the correct position, it just isn't tight. Seems like it is sprung but there's no reason for it to be. I guess I will just have to go buy a bulb from the dealer and see if that makes a difference. The area is so inaccessible it's a pain to work with.

Make sure they are the same part number and that they look EXACTLY the same at the base, including any notches. Do you have the retainer spring locked down properly?

Is your replacement bulb clearly marked "H7"? Notches in the base should only allow it to fit securely in one orientation. I change one every 6 months, use Sylvania brand, and have not had problems other than the connectors deteriorate and fall apart after 15,000 miles.

It is the right configuration, with the notch and it fits in fine, it just isn't a tight fit, I don't remember what the brand was but I think I will just try a new bulb. I have roughly 17,000 miles on it now and this is the first bulb issue, I hope it's the last.
