Sunroof leaking 850 1996

I've just made a 200$ deposit (all figures in canadian dollars!) on a 1996 850 GLT, the balance of payment is 7300$. It has 189 000 KM. It seems in order, I buy it from the original owner who is an exec and seems to do what needs to be done (from my non-expert advise, the car is A-1, besides one thing, see Q #2)It replaces my cherooke, which itself replaced an '89 wrecked 740 (frontal collision).

#1 what do you think of the deal ?
#2 The Sunroof is leaking when you put a high pressure of water on it (car wash) I've looked at it (with my non-expert eye) and saw that there was some rust under the front metal edge of the window. I've called the dealer and he told me I should replace it with a new one (obviously, what else could he say!) which retails at 1000$!
But I've got some other advises that it could be the drain which is blocked, or that you could change some seal... or that you could sandblast that metal part... etc. all for around 200$. So when I saw that there were so many solutions to the problem I didn't think of it as a problem.
What do you think is the problem, or do you have any solution to sunroof leaking (without condemning it!)???

Thank you very much.

    Sunroof leaking 850 1996

189 kms is not bad at all, even better given the car was well maintained, and I'm not familiar with canadian currency, but 7500 is about 5700 over here in the U.S. Doesn't sound bad at all. As for the sunroof, rust is not a good thing, it may indicate that the sunroof has been leaking for a while. make sure the interior or headliner isn't terribly damaged. You can manually adjust the sunroof if you open it into the tilted up position, then remove the plastic strips on each side to expose the glass bolts, where the glass meets the metal tracks. Loosening the bolts, then lowering the sunroof will allow you to adjust the sunroof position when closed. Perhaps it was just mis-adjusted, causing the leak. I've had no experience with the actual seals so I couldn't help you there. Best of luck!
