2000 V70 vents not working... V70-XC70

I have a 2000 V70 glt and the vents are not working. When I first turn the car on they will come on, briefly (3-5 sec) then quit, and then the ac off light and recirc will blink for a short period. It does not matter if AC is on or not, and it does not matter where they are set to blow. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jason

I had exactly the same problem last summer with my 1999 S70.
The AC system detects an overharge when the fan starts and shut down completely the system. Electronics... You have no other choice but to replace the blower fan.

Thanks for your responses, any idea of cost and difficulty in replacing the blower fan? Jason

Blinking tells you something's wrong with the climate control unit...fans probably won't work...problems vary, mine did it, it was an in-cabin sensor.

for the failure steve mentions! Mine has done it on and off for about 2 years now and I have never had a real AC or heat problem! But its probably what Steve indicates. I just don;t feel like giving Volvo $85 for diagnosis and probably another $50 for the part!
