Does anyone else have a loose steering wheel? S80

I bought my S80 T6 used, and it has always had what I consider VERY loose steering, I have about 3/4" - 1" of play in it. I have asked several different people to take a look at the front end to see if anything was worn out, but I am always told that nothing needs replacement, and that there is no way to get into the steering box. Does everyone's car feel like this? It is really a pain at highway speeds, because it takes that much longer to make corrections needed from uneven road conditions. That is the practical point of view, but from the other side of the fence, it just is not as much fun to drive with it like that. It makes spirited driving a lot more SPIRTIED than it should be. Any help/input would be great.

    Take the airbag off and their is a bolt their might be loose. But im warning you that if you do it your self take off the batterey first. Dont install the airbag yourself. Let the volvo dealer do it. If you do something wrong the airbag might deploy.

      I may be wrong, but I read that some airbags are powered by backup batteries or capacitors. If you disconnect the main battery, the airbag may still deploy.

        This is not true. Ive taken off airbags from volvo s80's couple times. Actually you dont even need to take the plugs off the airbag. Just unscrew the airbag, leave the connections on but take the batterey out just in case. Their is a bolt for 19mm in their screw it on good. Then just screw back the airbag on and your set. Hope this helps.

          Thanks guys, I will give it a try. I hope this helps, I was told by some others on vvspy that it might be my power steering rack, and that it is a bit pricey.
