XC 2003 Service light V70-XC70 2003

Is there a user procedure to turn off the service message-as in earlier years? I found that the method I saw posted here for 2002 XC does not work.
thanks

The trip meter must be in position "T1" to reset the service reminder. Look to the left of the trip display. You will see either "T1" or "T2". Toggling the button switches the reading between modes.
    Select "T1"
Turn the key to position I
Press and hold the trip button.
Wait for the miles display to reset to zero.
    Continue holding the button.
    Turn key to position II.
After about 10 seconds, the miles display will return to what was there before. Also, the yellow triangle "!" light will start to flash. Release the trip button at this time, and turn key off. Done.

This didn't work on my 02 V70. The trip counter did return to the previous value; when I cycled the key, the message screen showed a mystery message ("045"), but the next time I started, the Service message was back.
