Stuck cassette tape. 850

Can anyone help with how to get a stuck cassette tape out of a SC-811 radio/cassette deck? Any help would be appreciated.

If you disassemble the head unit (just remove the top cover), you'll see that the tape mechanism/player is a self-contained module and can easily be removed/replaced. I had a stuck tape, got the tape out, but ruined the delicate cassette mecahnism in the process. Good luck!! Your best bet is to find a replacement SC-811 (they're cheap on Ebay) with a known working cassette and swap them out.

I've had this problem, and it has generally been because the label on the tape was a little loose. What I do is, take a bobby pin, straighten it by hand, then take pliars to put a right angle of about the last 1/4". I stick this in, above the tape, turn it so that the small right angle part is aimed down, and hook the tape cassette (usually at the hole at the center of the spool closest to me), and pull it out. I've done this maybe 5 times, and it has always worked.
