What is the pin in the rotor for....Help!!! S80

Ok,
So I got my new wheels, and I was ready to put them on, when BAM all of a sudden they were not going on because of the pin that sticks out of the rotor. What is it for? What can I do? Any help please!!

The 240 has these pins too. They have something to do with balancing the wheel while it's on the car. That way the wheels go back on with the same orientation every time.

On the 240 I just cut the pin off with a hack saw. I removed the pin and cut it off where it meets the bolt. They I put the bolt back on (minus pin) to secure the rotor.

I asssume that teh S80 is the same as other Volvo's, and if so, the pin has two functions: it secures the brake rotor, and it acts as a a positioning pin to be sure that the wheel is always re-mounted in the same position. Lots of european cars have this positioning pin, and a corresponding small hole in the wheels between two of the stud holes. Volvo steel wheels have a hole, while many of their alloy wheels have a hidden recess that you can only see from the back side. Check your stock wheels and you should find it. Sorry, don't know if you can just grind down the pin, probably depends on what clearance the new wheels provide ( you can't grind it flush since then you couldn't remove rotor) . Check that the new wheels don't already have a recess and you hjust have torotate them to the right spot where they will drop in.

yeah...look behind the rim at the spacing between the holes for the lug nuts... there should be 5, with 4 of them filled with a metal tab while 1 of them will be empty..that empty hole is to allow for the rim to fit over the brake disc guide pin (ur pin in question)...
