Ball joint... how to check the wear/need to change? 850 1994

Hi,

Anyone know how to check/validate the ball joint status whitout removing them from the wheel assembly? I know there is some way while car jacked with wheel on... Thanks

A floor jack is best to lift the front end of car. With a long metal bar or pipe put under wheel at right angle and lift and look for play up and down You can also grab the wheel at 12&6 pull and push top and bottom.Grab wheel at 9&3 and move in on one side while pulling out on the other side.This movement may also show if tie rod ends are OK or not
