Power seat control lever C70

Hello all

I just started to have trouble with the passenger side power seat in my C70.
The power seat functions work fine but when you try and use the control lever on the side of the seat to get in to the back nothing happens, I can hear a clicking sound down at the front bottom were all the wires go into the seat, the motor does not engage and the seat will not fold forward. Any one had this experience?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Steve d.

Power seat control lever C70

Hey Steve,
I have the same exact problem with my C70 but my driver's side. I was told it was 100% sure the cable for the lever snapped and needs to be replaced. The seat doesn't need to be removed (only the back cover lifted up to have access to this.

Good luck,
Chris

Thanks Chris,

I did a search of the archives like I should have done first. There is talk about the cable and where it TEEs to both sides breaking.
Local dealer wants $85 just to look at it and no matter what the problems is the coast for repair starts from there. They will not prorate the $85 towards the fix. I mean they are going to have the seat apart already! Why would they want to charge to take it apart the second time? Now I remember why I have not brought my other 2 Volvos to them in 7 years!!!

Hey guys,
I actually went to Volvo and purchased the cable.. $50 for the thing.. Took my seat apart, and it is broken where the two lines tee into a metal hook. Well, the cable Volvo sold me was definitely not the cable for this! I will be getting the new cable sometime this week and will take pictures as I perform the job. Hopefully this can help you out. Email me if you have any questions.

Regards,
Chris

If it's anything like the seat cable on an 850... it truly can be a do it yourself job. I took the seat apart, replaced the cable, and put the seat back in under an hour the first time I tried it.

Some small zip ties and a needle nose pliers is about all the tools you need to do it.
