parts info V70-XC70

to keep things simple, can anyone point me to s site where I can enter a Volvo
part number and see what it is? Also it seems that the secondary air pump is NOT
under the battery tray. It seems to be part of the intake air system box. For intake air pipe and the flex metal pipe that goes to the exhaust manifold byt the fire wall sort "T" there. BTW the parts that I am curious about are 1275636
and 1275634 which attach to the output of the air box before the throttle body which is a Italian Maili (sic) part. True fly-by wire confirmed
TIA

98 with motronic 4.4 was the last year for the secondary air pump. 99's have either Denso (non turbo) or ME 7.0, and no air pump. 99 was the first year for fly by wire, and variable valve timing.

Bill, you nailed it right on. Many thanks. I have what, ahem, (the owners manual) states "some models use secondary air injection", others use a "secondary
air pump", which I assume jump starts the secondary combustion in the exhaust
manifold. All pieces fall in place. Am correct that the module right after the air box is the MAF? which kinda looks like a fan/generator to send data to the ECM, so any idea what the valve "T-ing" of the large duct going to the Throttle body is?. The output of this device goes right into the intake manifold near the injectors.
      thanks Bill

not all V70's have the secondary air pump system. What year is your vehicle.

For part numbers, go to an online volvo vendor like alloem.com and search by the part number.

john, I thank you. Its a 1999. I THINK I hear a pump when engine is cold. Maybe I should decode the VIN stuff to determine MONTH it was built. I was ready to drill out the body when weather got to be more "car working" friendly.
Everything I have run across is its under the battery. Nothing but air under
there. If it does indeed exist, its in the large intake-filter whatever box.
I am just doing this to understand this 1999 year, you see we still drive a 1967
since new, our main drive for 34 years and still going strong. I have taken these red blocks for granted forever. Geez just replaced the clutch about 3 years ago after 210K on it. Could not get it in reverse, went just fine, no clutch slipping noticed at all. Guess what down to rivets, NO damage to flywheel. Lucked out there.
Thanka again John, appreciate your inputs
      cheers

        air pump V70-XC70

If your '99 has a pump, then the pump is in the area under the battery tray.
It's by itself and not in a box, If you have it, there is a 1 1/2 to 2 inch hose that goes from the air filter box downwards under the battery to attach to the air pump. Follow this in let hose and you'll find it.

The outlet hose from the pump goes to the SAS valve that's behind the engine close to the firewall.

          air pump V70-XC70

No sir, not there. metal flex hose going to exhaust manifold is a straight shot,
NO SAS valve, nada. It maybe that this car is a 1999 1/2 or real early 2000. Metal
hose goes to airbox. This puppy IS different. The parts I am curious about may
be the MAF and the other? this other goes between the output of the airbox thru this valve which goes to the input manifold. Its all air supply. The givaway here, keep in mind its a real Fly-by-wire Throttle Body, NO cables which went away in 1998-99.
Ah, I guess a trip to a indie Volvo shop and there are a bunch here in Portland, OR. The dealer woudnt know or elude to the info. I love this chasing info,
          cheers
