CHECK ENGINE light 850 1995

O.K., gentlemen I just got my first ever "CHECK ENGINE" light on the dash.
Not sure whether to be pysched or scared. Anyway can someone please tell me
the correct way to retrieve any fault codes?
I am looking at my Haynes and it says to insert the test lead into Socket 1 of
Module B. Does this sound right?

Thanks!

I just went outside and inserted the fly lead into Socket 1 of Module B with the ignition turned off. Then went back and turned the ignition on to accessory and depressed the test button for 1 second. I received no codes whatsoever. I was expecting something but got nada. What does this mean when the "CHECK ENGINE" light is still on?

I think Module B is for the A/C system ....
You want Module A for the engine codes....

It's worth investing in a Chilton's guide. It will have the instructions, and the codes, for your model.
