DIY - Headlights and spark plugs S40-V40 2000

Hi out there!

I have two questions I was hoping some of you DIY’ers can answer.

First, my wife banged up the front bumper of our V40 the other day and our headlights need to be re-aimed. Can this be done? How would I re-aim the headlights? I looked around the headlights (quickly), but didn’t see any screw adjustments…

Second, I’m at 40k miles and the car is starting to run a little rough. I noticed that I was supposed to change the spark plugs a while back. How hard is this job? I assume that the plugs are located under the black cover? Any tips/warnings/suggestions? Any reason to use something other than Champion Copper Plus plugs (RC12YC)?

Thanks in advance for any and all replies!

The other guy is right ,the ngk are the best and the bosch will give you trouble, a lot of the time as soon as you fit them.
A lot of people have put the old ones back in as they were better.
The headlights are adjustable, open the bonnet(hood)and you will see 2(about 1/4 hex) white plastic bolts siting out the back of the reflector unit,I think they have a locking screw on the side of them to stop them moving in use which will need to be slacked off.
There's one at the top and another at the side.
I presume the electric headlight adjuster switch has'nt gone to another setting has it?

Thanks so much for the reply. I have no idea about the electric headlight adjuster switch: Not even sure I knew I had one. Guess I need to investigate.

Thanks for the advise on the NGKs. I'll return the Champions and try a set of those...

If you have the electric headlight height adjuster it is on the same panel as the lights switch.
It is like the dim switch for the panel lights and also has a rocker switch for up or down right by them

Thanks for the reply. I dug around the lights a little and found a white height/elevation adjustment knob. Not sure what to do about the windage though. Thanks, Mike

My owners manual lists Champion RC8PYP or equivalent. I've always used Bosch but I hear a LOT of people rave about NGK plugs and might try the NGK laser plugs when my car is due for a new set. The gap should be 0.80mm (0.0315").

Plastic cover comes off with a torx bit. Remove the old plugs and put the new ones in. They should be torqed to 18.4 ft lbs - not crazy tight.

Thanks for the reply/advice. I'll try to find the NKG plugs as well.
