I occassionally get a tailgate warning light to flicker briefly when pressing on the brake, usally after a long run, or just getting going. Is the a contact or something I can clean? Tailgate disassembly required? When it was super cold a while back, I had an occassional problem with it latching.

    Tom,
    It's a know problem. Dealer replaced my latch on 2000xc. I told them the "cold, no latch", they said we will repaire no charge.
    I suggest a phone call to your dealer.

        My guess is it's the latch part in the tailgate itself. I wanted mine repaired because I didn't want the tailgate to be come open while driveing. It might ruin someone's day if my dog came out of the back of my car and hit their windsheild. They might drop their cell phone or something.

    This is not a new or unique problem. Search the Brick Board on "Tailgate Latch" and see the many entries which pop up. Among them will likely be your problem and several suggestions. Let us know when and how you resolve it.

        Gee, what a shame that you didn't see fit to tell us in your original post that you had already done the search and found nothing.
