timing belt tensior broken, fixed and now coolent level low V70-XC70

'98 v70m

My timing belt tensior broke @ 140k, and in the process cracked the head. I had it fixed at Almartin Volvo in Burlington, Vermont, to the tune of $2,500. Now after driving 3k, my coolent level is low. Any connection here, and should I be worried?

At the time of the work being done I expressed concern of having the "top" end of the motor basicly rebuilt but still having an old "bottom" end. ALmartin said their would be no trouble?

Woody....was yours a V70-XC70

hydraulic tensioner or the fixed mechanical type! My buddies 98 with hydraulic blew at 78K miles, 8K after the dealer belt service. Had to argue with the dealer big time but gottem topay for the $3K repair 100 percent.

I have to admit I do not know the answer to the question "hydraulic tensioner or the fixed mechanical type". I was unawair that the v70 came with diffrent types. I'm going to try and find this out. From what i have been told on this car the timing belt needs to be changed every 70k and they are now changing the tensiors at 140K. I asked around as i had my belt changed and then the tensior went right at 140K, I was told by volvo that I was out of luck.
guess thats how it goes. I will say, my pop is having his tensior changed soon at 110k, don't need to have this happen twice

simple... V70-XC70

..open hood, unscrew coolant bottle cap (cold engine) and top up coolant level.

It's not unusual when refilling a previously drained engine to have some air that can take a while to escape, not a problem.
