Dim All The Lights (or just some of them) 850 1993

Good day:

I noticed this morning that there is no dash light behind the rear/side mirror defrost button or the traction control button. I do know that the light behind the climate control is dimmer on the passenger side than on the driver side, but is there no light behind the other two buttons mentioned above for a reason or is there something else. Obviously, I am not going to try to make a Constitutional Amendment over this--but I am curious.

Thanks

The bulbs are burnt out. Unfortunately with early models ('93&'94) you can't replace the bulb! You have to replace the whole switch. So, do what I did, and replace the switches with a later model design, say from a '95 or newer. They are the same price, easy to install and in the future you can replace the bulbs. After doing so, dim your instrument lamps to around 90% luminance and you will NEVER have to replace a bulb again. I havn't replaced a bulb in four years since dimming my instrumnets and don't expect to replace them any time soon....

      Any idea on the cost?

      Thanks for your reply!

Switches are approx $25 U.S each. You have to specify what the function is, so you get the right icon and switch type. Just pop out the old ones taking care not to scratch your dash. Unplug the harness by releasing two lock tabs. Plug in the new switch and snap it back into the dash.
