O2 sensor

Just installed a new front 02 sensor on a 96 850 non turbo with air pump and AT. Car continues to set CE code PO 131 ( front 02 sensor voltage low/missing). Rear sensor was replaced by PO six months ago. Pulled everything down tonight to check my splices which are fine. With car idleing, voltage directly from front black sensor wire is 0.00v which Alex Peper's software confirms. Rear sensor reads normal ( I think about .5v). Have I overlooked something or is this just a dud sensor (Bosch universal and the application # is correct for the car). The vendor is giving me the run around but thought I'd ask before sending it back to them to use as a paper weight. As it's an electrical part that has been "installed" guess I'll have to eat the $82. but did pay by CC. Many thanks

bruce

bl - this is a long shot, but after I changed my front O2 sensor, I disconnected the battery to clear the code, but it didn't clear. I had to have the check engine light reset. Did you do that? I'm wondering if it wasn't reset, if the computer is not even talking/listening to the O2 sensor?

O2 sensor

Jim,

No, I didn't disconnect the battery but I should have (DUH!). Conclusion is that the sensor is bad as it doesn't produce any voltage with the engine running. Supplier is overnighting me a new one that I should have Wed. I also said in my origional post that the vendor was giving me a hard time. I need to retract that. He was just trying to figure out if I'd done something wrong. He's shipping me the new one post paid and will pay shipping on the old one back to him. Discountsensors.com. Highly recommended! Thanks for your thoughts!

bruce
