tranny clunk. what up V70-XC70

I bought a 2001 v70 turbo wagon.

Whe the car is warm and at a stop, shen you step on the gas there is a slight hesitation and a bump when the transmission engages. I took it to the dealer and they recommended a transmission flush and a computer upgrade.

$525 for the job.

Does this sound right?

Find yourself another dealer. Your tranny has a "neutral position" when you stop with tranny in gear. There is a momentary hesitation when you take your foot off the brake and press on the accelerator to go. The tranny goes back in gear again and that is what you feel. Some like it and some don't. I'm sort of used to it now and it doesn't bother me. Hope this answers your question.

I have a 2002 V70 turbo and that doesn't happen to mine. When I let off the brake, it starts to go with no hesitation.

If I'm not mistaken there was a change for 2002 trannies that eliminated this neutral position and it does not go into neutral anymore. A poster mentioned that he had his tranny computer reprogrammed to eliminate this function through VADIS at the dealer. Worth checking out if it bothers you.
