Shift lock release problems S70

I am having to use the shift lock override button every time to shift from park. I have been told that it is the shift lock micro-switch that needs to be replaced. I was wondering if this is common and if the micro-switch replacement is the cure? I read some info on bay 13 on the console removal and replacement of the micro-switch. Is this the same procedure on a 98 S70? Thanks in advance.
