Shift lock release problems S70

I am having to use the shift lock override button every time to shift from park. I have been told that it is the shift lock micro-switch that needs to be replaced. I was wondering if this is common and if the micro-switch replacement is the cure? I read some info on bay 13 on the console removal and replacement of the micro-switch. Is this the same procedure on a 98 S70? Thanks in advance.

Is your ABS light on as well? If thats the case you need the electrical part of the ignition switch. The replacement procedure for the micro-switch is the same.Once you get the console out of the way,use a D.V.O.M. to make sure you get 12v from the brake light switch to the micro-switch.

Yes my ABS light is on. What relationship would this have with the shift lock switch? I am planning on having Victor repair my ABS module next week. Will that effect how the shift lock switch functions? Thanks ,

Bay 13 has some notes on the relationship of the ABS light to
ignition switch problems in their procedure for replacing the
ignition switch electrical connector. See:

I read that on bay 13, I tried moving the switch ignition switch around and it had no effect. I have not had any other issues with the switch. Before the previous post , I had no idea of any relationship with the shiftlock problem and the ABS light. Thanks for you help Ray.
