CD Changer 850

I have a '96 850 turbo with the SC811 radio cassette, and have installed the Volvo factory 6 cd changer in my glovebox. It works fine but I have 2 questions: 1-Is there any setting which remembers where you were on the CD at power off? It is extremely annoying to have the CD restart every time I get in the car, and 2- It skips alot, do I need to try to level it? Or put some sort of foam or spring material under it to cushion it?

Thanx!

Bob

ditto the other posts on the permanant feed wire...an easy way to check this is will the unit eject its magazine with the ignition off....it should!

skipping....did you check the alignment of the adjusters on the ends of the unit prior to mounting...there are adjusters on BOTH ends that need to be changed to suit the angle of mounting..sort of like cresants with a sprung 'pip' that needs to be moved...fro mmemory the 'pip' should be at the verticle position in relation to the road...this adjusts the damping springs i believe...

certainly mine has probably skipepd once in about 6k miles....and that was one mendatious pot hole!

i have an alpine mounted in the glove box nice and snug and it doesnt skip unless i hit a pothole, and it continues where it was when the car was shut off. other words it continues where it left off , i have the unswitched wire hooked up to the bacck of the radio it was the best place due to the fact that the changer wire has to goto there anyways. if wou need to know the wire color refer to bay 13 at volvospeed.com

hope this helps

On the "restart" issue -- I recall there was a wire that needed to be connected to "unswitched" (i.e., always on) power. Is there some chance that that it is not connected in your wiring harness?

On the skipping, did you use the Volvo mounting kit? I did, and I don't have any skipping unless I hit WHOPPER potholes.
