If your 1999 or 2000 S-70 headlight switch failed... S70

If your 1999 or 2000 S-70 headlight switch failed, please report it to the NHTSA at:

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/

Unless I am grossly mis-informed, the headlight switch is the same as on the 1998s, which were subject to a safety recall. It infuriates me that Volvo is aware of this potential safety problem and has not issued a safety recall. NHTSA will not investigate or issue a recall until there is a critical mass of complaints.

    If your 1999 or 2000 S-70 headlight switch failed... V70-XC70 1999

My 1999 V70 XC headlight switch failed also. I believe the switches are the same. A little epoxy fixed mine but a scary experience nontheless.

Where did you put the epoxy? It seemed on mine that the contacts were pushed in too much, so I was able to bend them out as a stop-gap measure.

Even if you fixed your switch, please still report it to NHTSA. If Volvo won't step up to the plate and do the recall before someone gets injured/killed because of a headlight switch failure on a dark, 50 mph curve, then we as concerned consumers should pressure them via the NHTSA.
