automatic transmission question V70-XC70

We reecntly purchased a 1999 cross country with an AT. The car has 57K. We test drove it around town and it was great. I took it up a long hill during the test drive at about 50mph and it shifted smoothly. This past weekend we took a long trip on the highway and I noticed a "thump" when it does the final shift getting up to 70mph, this also occurs when decelerating.

No clicking or noise when turning in a tight radius, no whine, all other shifts are hardly noticeable .

Has anyone encountered a similar condition?
Thankyou.
Regards
Ed

DITTO...dont give up. THe flush will do the job. Easy instructions on Bay 13 for the flush. IPD has the kit or you can buy fluid and a 1/2" tygon tube (3-4 feet) and do it yourself. I think IPD aslo has instructions. Messy, but easy adn sure beats teh $24 / quart teh dealer wants (and they only replace 3 quarts!)

This is a real common complaint. Do a change over of ATF and it will resolve.

Fresh flush............................... V70-XC70

I would almost guarentee you will notice a difference. I did in my v70 AWD when I changed the fluid at 60K. Was pretty amazing!!!
